As an interdisciplinary artist, wei works with print media, video, sound, design, and performance to render the experience of the Otherness. Mapping Queerness and Foreignness are the often topics he researches and expresses. wei investigates the betwixt & between under the homogenous timeline in order to trace the imprints by contextualizing one’s present.
wei currently lives and works in Providence, RI. He is a current MFA candidate at the Rhode Island School of Design and holds a BFA in New Media at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. wei has shown in group exhibitions nationally and internationally. He has participated in numerous artist residencies, including Haystack Mountain School of Craft, ME; University of California Santa Cruz, CA; Yerba Buena Center for the Art, CA; Edition / Basel, Switzerland; and Santa Reparata International School Of Art, Italy. His works have collected by The Thomas J. Watson Library of The Metropolitan Museum, The Library of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and The Wattis Institute.
wei is the founder of In.Forum(n.frm), a platform dedicated to creating an in-depth conversation between emerging artists & curators and invite diverse voices into institutional spaces. wei is also a long term collaborator of the San Francisco based International Artists Collective Futurefarmers.
